TL;DR
A Marrakech airport transfer costs €13 with a pre-booked private service, €15-18 from the official Kech Cab booth, or a negotiated price from €24 to €57 with street taxis. Our 30-course data shows a median of 300 MAD (€28) for street taxi quotes, and touts were present in 100% of observed pickups.

How this data was collected
Between June 5 and July 4, 2026, four licensed Get Me! drivers (Adil, Amine, Mohamed, and a coordinator) filled out an observation sheet after every airport course. Each entry documents: destination district, presence of touts, highest and lowest prices quoted by street taxis, wait time at the official taxi queue, and traffic conditions.
Methodology
N=30 courses. Period: June 5 - July 4, 2026. 4 licensed drivers. 22 courses to Médina, 7 to Guéliz, 1 to Palmeraie. MAD prices converted to EUR at the period's average rate of 10.7 MAD/EUR (source: Bank Al-Maghrib).
The official price vs the price you're actually quoted
The fair fare for an airport → medina trip is around 80 to 100 MAD per ONDA published tariffs. Here is what is actually being quoted on the ground.
| Route | Fair fare | Median quoted | Maximum quoted | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airport → Medina | 80-100 MAD | 300 MAD | 600 MAD | ×6 (max) |
| Airport → Guéliz | 60-80 MAD | 343 MAD | 600 MAD | ×7.5 (max) |
The 5 scam patterns observed (by frequency)
Across the 30 observed courses, here is how scams distribute — from most frequent to rarest.
1. 1. "Parking" supplement after kiosk payment (43% of cases)
The traveler pays the official Kech Cab ticket. Once in the car, the driver demands a "parking supplement" — even though parking fees are already included in the kiosk price. Typical asks: 50 to 100 MAD extra.
2. 2. Extra bill despite kiosk payment (20% of cases)
Direct variant: the driver simply demands "one more bill" without justification. Often at the destination, leveraging the traveler's fatigue and desire to end the interaction.
3. 3. Multiple drivers swarming the customer (17% of cases)
As soon as you exit the arrivals hall, multiple drivers approach simultaneously. Strategy: create stress and confusion to short-circuit the official Kech Cab queue. Best defense: walk straight to the kiosk without responding.
4. 4. "Luggage too large" supplement (10% of cases)
The driver demands extra payment claiming the luggage is too bulky or heavy. No official tariff structure justifies this supplement.
5. 5. Pre-booked driver impersonation (3% of cases, serious)
The driver pretends to be the one the customer pre-booked online and demands payment in advance, even though the traveler already paid the booking. Rare but documented.
Counter-intuitive finding: Guéliz is more expensive than the medina
Marrakech-Menara Airport is roughly 4 km from Guéliz and 6 km from the medina. Logically, Guéliz should be cheaper by taxi. Our data says the opposite: the average quoted price to Guéliz is 343 MAD vs 311 MAD to the medina.
Our drivers' hypothesis: business hotels and expat residences are concentrated in Guéliz and are perceived as a wealthier clientele. Touts adjust their quote based on assumed traveler profile, not on kilometers.
What this means for you
Whether you stay in the medina or in Guéliz, the Kech Cab booth price and the Get Me! pre-paid price are the same — based on the actual trip. Only street prices inflate based on your presumed destination.
5 rules to avoid overpaying
- Do not respond to touts outside the arrivals hall. Walk firmly, eye contact, straight to your chosen option.
- If using Kech Cab: pay at the booth (inside the hall, on the left as you exit baggage claim) BEFORE getting in the car. No supplement is legally owed afterward.
- If taking a street taxi: agree on the exact price BEFORE putting luggage in the trunk. Once luggage is loaded, you have lost negotiating leverage.
- Always know the day's MAD/EUR rate. At time of writing (July 2026), 1 EUR ≈ 10.7 MAD. If a driver says "€20 is nothing" for what should be 100 MAD, that's 2.1×.
- With pre-booked private: the driver holds a sign with your name. Check the sign. Ask for confirmation of your riad or hotel name. Any driver who cannot confirm is not yours.

Book my transfer €13The takeaway
The official price for a Marrakech airport transfer exists — 80 to 100 MAD depending on the district. The price you actually get quoted on arrival in 2026 ranges from 250 to 600 MAD depending on your apparent vulnerability. The only known way to get a guaranteed price, with no tout, no negotiation, is pre-booking online.
This data is updated quarterly. The next report will be published in October 2026.
What is the real price of a Marrakech airport transfer to the medina in 2026?
The official Kech Cab price is 150-180 MAD (€14-17). The median quoted price by a street taxi in our 30-day data is 300 MAD (€28), with the maximum observed at 600 MAD (€57). Pre-booked private transfer is €13 fixed (up to 6 passengers).
Why do Marrakech street taxi prices vary so much?
Because no meter is used at the airport exit. The price depends on the driver's perception of your willingness to pay: presumed country of origin, luggage, clothing, tone of voice. The more vulnerable you appear, the higher the price climbs. Our data confirms: average 311 MAD (medina) to 343 MAD (Guéliz), maximum 600 MAD.
Is the Kech Cab booth really reliable in Marrakech?
The price posted at the Kech Cab booth is official and fixed — it's the right option if you have not pre-booked. Caveat: our drivers observed that 43% of Kech Cab courses include an unjustified "parking supplement" requested by the driver after boarding. Refuse this supplement — it is not legal.
Why does a pre-paid Get Me! transfer cost less than a street taxi?
Because Get Me! works with licensed drivers paid per course, not per negotiation. The €13 price is the result of a framework agreement. Street taxis, by contrast, ride on the traveler's fatigue and unfamiliarity to maximize each individual course.
Can I pay a Marrakech taxi with a credit card?
No, with very rare exceptions. Street taxis accept MAD cash only. Pre-paid transfers booked online (Stripe, card payment) are the exception: you pay before the trip and arrive without cash if you prefer. For Kech Cab, plan for MAD cash.
How long is the wait at the official taxi queue at RAK?
Our 30-day data shows an average of 39 minutes, median 40 minutes. The maximum observed in the period was 130 minutes (almost 2h15). This wait adds to the trip time. Pre-booking entirely avoids this queue: your driver is already waiting.
