Christmas Day 2026 falls on a Friday, and so does New Year's Day 2027. If you're spending the festive season in Marrakech, your flight may well land on or around one of those dates, and not always at a convenient hour. Three questions tend to surface before you've even packed: will anyone be waiting at the airport on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve, what time is it actually in Morocco this year, and how do you get a family or a group of friends into town without splitting into three taxis?
School holiday dates vary by school and local authority, so we don't list any here: check your own. Nor will you find an airport crowd figure for December. We haven't measured one, and we don't publish what we haven't measured. What follows is what you can settle from home.
The essentials in 30 seconds
Transfers run without interruption on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January, at the usual price: €15 one way, €27 round trip, per vehicle for up to 6 passengers. 7 to 12 travellers means two vehicles. Marrakech is now on the same time as London: always enter Moroccan local time when you book.
The festive calendar: four dates that matter
None of these dates interrupts the transfer service. They matter for timing: when you land, when you fly home, and how much margin you leave in between.
| Date | Occasion | In Morocco | For your transfer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thursday 24 December | Christmas Eve | — | Service runs, same price, day and night |
| Friday 25 December | Christmas Day | Not a public holiday | Service runs, same price |
| Thursday 31 December | New Year's Eve | — | Service runs, late-evening arrivals included |
| Friday 1 January 2027 | New Year's Day | Public holiday | Service runs, same price |
Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve: the transfer still runs
The obvious worry when your flight lands on the 24th or the 31st is whether anyone will be there to meet it. Our transport partners work without interruption on 24, 25 and 31 December and on 1 January. The price doesn't move either: €15 one way, €27 round trip, per vehicle. It depends on neither the date nor the hour, so landing at 11.30pm on New Year's Eve costs exactly what a Tuesday-afternoon arrival in November does.
Two limits, in the interest of completeness. Get Me! covers the journey between the airport and where you're staying; it isn't a city taxi service, so getting around town on New Year's Eve needs another plan. And the transfer serves Marrakech and its immediate surroundings: the medina, Guéliz, Hivernage, the Palmeraie. If part of your stay is further out, in the Agafay desert for instance, that address is outside our zone and online booking will refuse it. Worth knowing before you build your itinerary.
Moroccan time: forget what you remember from past Christmases
Since 20 September 2026, Morocco has run on GMT all year round, dropping the permanent GMT+1 it adopted in 2018. For a Christmas trip, the upshot is simple: Marrakech is now on the same time as London and Dublin, and one hour behind Paris and Madrid. If you've spent recent Christmases in Marrakech, you'll remember being an hour ahead of home. That's no longer the case.
The good news: no clocks change during the festive period. The UK and the EU stay on winter time until late March, and Morocco no longer has any seasonal change at all. The gap you notice when you land is the gap you'll have when you leave.
| Flying from | Gap with Marrakech in December 2026 |
|---|---|
| UK and Ireland | Same time |
| Canary Islands | Same time |
| France, mainland Spain (CET) | Marrakech is 1 h behind |
One time to enter: Morocco's
Your ticket already shows the local time at each airport; mistakes come from what you work out yourself. On your transfer booking, copy the arrival time printed for Marrakech, with no conversion. And if you're travelling from France or Spain, watch out for reminders set on a phone still running on home time.
Arriving with nothing booked: what our drivers logged in summer 2026
Leave Marrakech-Menara Airport with nothing booked and you're left with three options: the official Kech Cab taxi kiosk, the taxi rank, or the drivers who come up to you. Between 5 June and 4 July 2026, our drivers recorded what happened across 30 rides. Touts were present on 100% (30/30 rides). The opening price quoted by street taxis had a median of 300 MAD. The wait at the official taxi rank had a median of 40 min. And on 43% (13/30) of rides, a parking surcharge was demanded after the ticket had already been paid at the kiosk.
These are summer measurements. We have no December data and don't claim these figures repeat unchanged over the holidays. They describe a situation rather than a season: the traveller negotiating a ride straight off the plane, tired, laden, sometimes at night. A pre-booked transfer doesn't make touts disappear; it simply means you don't have to deal with them. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name, and the price is already paid.
| Option | Price | Settled before you fly | On a festive night, with luggage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Street taxi | Median opening price observed: 300 MAD (summer 2026) | No | Price and vehicle negotiated on the kerb |
| Official Kech Cab kiosk | Price posted at the kiosk | No | Regulated, but there may be a queue |
| Bus no. 19 | The cheapest option | No | Check times locally; awkward with suitcases |
| Pre-booked transfer (Get Me!) | €15 one way, €27 round trip, per vehicle | Yes, paid online | Same price on 24, 25, 31 December and 1 January, driver assigned |
Families and groups of friends: one vehicle per six
If you're travelling as a group for the festive season, the pricing works in your favour: a Get Me! transfer is charged per vehicle, not per passenger. Up to 6 people, it's €15 one way and €27 round trip, whether you're three or six. Beyond that, the booking adds the vehicles you need on its own.
| Passengers | Vehicles | One way | Round trip |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 6 | 1 | €15 | €27 |
| 7 to 12 | 2 | €30 | €54 |
| 13 to 18 | 3 | €45 | €81 |
- Enter the exact number of travellers, babies included: that's what sets the number of vehicles.
- Winter coats, bigger suitcases, presents: describe the amount of luggage in the special requests field.
- For a child seat, ask in the same field with the child's age, and wait for confirmation before treating it as sorted.
- Group split across several flights? One booking means one pickup time, so make one per flight rather than leaving half the group waiting.
- From 7 travellers, give a single address and a single meeting point for the whole group.
In the medina, the car stops at the closest point it can reach to your riad: many riads sit on lanes closed to traffic. Before you travel, ask the riad whether someone can come and carry the bags to the door. It's common practice, but it has to be requested.

Your festive arrival, nothing to negotiate
€15 one way, €27 round trip, per vehicle for up to 6 passengers. Same price on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, paid online when you book.
Book my transferThe round trip: lock in the journey home early
For a festive trip, the €27 round trip is €3 cheaper than two one-way rides and, more importantly, settles your journey home before you've even left. Whenever work or school starts again for you in January, fix the return transfer when you buy the flights. The two legs follow different rules.
- The outbound leg can no longer be edited within 24 hours of pickup.
- The return leg stays editable up to 12 hours before: time, flight number and pickup address, which can differ from your arrival address. Handy if you spend Christmas in one riad and New Year in another.
- Cancellation is free and refunded up to 24 hours before the first pickup.
- You can book as late as 6 hours before pickup, but the price is fixed: waiting gains you nothing.
Landing late on a festive night, leaving before dawn
If your flight lands late on the 24th or the 31st, the transfer price doesn't change: the same at midnight as at noon. Add your flight number when you book: we track your flight, and if it's delayed the pickup is moved at no extra cost. Keep a warm layer in your hand luggage too: December nights in Marrakech are chilly, even when the days are mild.
On the way home, the dawn flight is the scenario that needs the most preparation: at that hour, you can't count on finding a taxi at the last minute. Set the pickup time and place in advance, ideally when you book the round trip, and confirm them the day before.

- When you buy your flights: book the round trip with both flight numbers. Bookings open up to 6 months ahead, so every festive date is already bookable. The price doesn't rise as Christmas approaches, and cancellation stays free up to 24 hours before.
- Early December: check the flight times in your airline account; a schedule may have shifted since you booked.
- The week you travel: double-check the riad's exact address, the passenger count and any special requests (child seat, luggage).
- During your stay: if you move accommodation between Christmas and New Year, update the return address.
- No later than 12 hours before the return pickup: last window to change the time, flight or address.

Does the airport transfer run on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve?
Yes. Our transport partners work without interruption on 24, 25 and 31 December and on 1 January, day and night. The price is the same as the rest of the year: €15 one way, €27 round trip, per vehicle for up to 6 passengers. There's no bank-holiday, New Year's Eve or night surcharge.
What's the time difference between the UK and Marrakech at Christmas?
None. Morocco has run on GMT all year round since 20 September 2026, so Marrakech is on the same time as London and Dublin throughout December. From France or mainland Spain, Marrakech is one hour behind. No clocks change until late March. When you book, always enter Moroccan local time, as printed on your ticket.
There are ten of us for New Year: how much is the transfer?
With ten passengers, the booking automatically switches to two vehicles, since each carries up to 6: €30 one way, €54 round trip, which works out at €5.40 each for the round trip. Give one address and one meeting point. If the group arrives on different flights, make one booking per flight.
Can I change the return pickup address if we switch riads?
Yes. On a round trip, the return pickup address can differ from your arrival address, and it stays editable up to 12 hours before pickup, along with the time and flight number. The address must stay within our service zone, meaning Marrakech and its immediate surroundings, from the medina to the Palmeraie.
Is Christmas a public holiday in Morocco?
No. 25 December is an ordinary working day in Morocco, while 1 January is a public holiday. Neither affects your transfer: our transport partners run without interruption on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January, at the usual price. What matters far more is your flight time, entered in Moroccan local time.
The takeaway
Getting from the airport at Christmas in Marrakech isn't complicated, on one condition: settle the practical side when you buy your flights, not when you step off the plane on Christmas Eve. The service runs on both festive nights at the usual price, Marrakech now shares London's clock rather than Paris's, and a group of ten fits in two vehicles. Our advice: book the round trip in one go, in Moroccan time, with both flight numbers. You'll have plenty left to organise for the celebrations themselves.
